Meet Jessica Gomez-Alonso (she/her)
Jessica is a clinical mental health counseling student at Western Michigan University, with a passion for working with diverse populations across the lifespan. As a first-generation Latinx intern, she brings a culturally sensitive, curious, and client-centered approach to her clinical work.
Jessica has a particular interest in working with teenagers and young adults, especially within the Hispanic community, but welcomes clients from all backgrounds aged 6 and older. She offers a warm, down-to-earth presence and a strong belief that each person holds the capacity for growth and self-understanding. Her goal is to walk alongside clients as they explore their identities, face life’s challenges, and build on their personal strengths.
Jessica believes that therapy is a collaborative process rooted in mutual trust and respect. She strives to create a safe, affirming space where clients feel seen, heard, and valued as whole people—not just as a set of symptoms or struggles. Her approach is supportive and flexible, meeting each client where they are while encouraging curiosity, insight, and empowerment.
Before beginning her clinical internship, Jessica developed a love for creative expression and connection through her hobbies—crafting, dancing, enjoying nature, and board games. These passions shape her ability to connect authentically with clients and build meaningful therapeutic relationships.
